PHP 7.4 has reached End of Life (EOL). This means it is no longer supported and will be removed from our servers within a few months. The newest version of PHP is version 8.2. We are asking all of our customers to please upgrade their PHP versions from version 7.4 to version 8.x as soon as possible. We offer all newer versions of PHP to make the transition to PHP 8 smoother.

WordPress on PHP 8 can handle 18.4% more requests per second than PHP 7.4, making it the fastest version of PHP ever.  PHP 8.2 is now the default version for all new accounts. Switching your version of PHP is easy using our tutorials below.

Before updating your version of PHP we suggest updating all of your Wordpress plugins, themes, and core files, and all other software in your account, to their latest versions. This will ensure a smooth switch to the newest version of PHP.

Start by upgrading to PHP 8.2, which is the latest version, then check your site for errors to make sure all of your plugins and themes are compatible. If you find any errors on your site try changing your PHP selection to PHP 8.0 or 8.1 to see if that corrects the errors. If the errors still exist then that means there are one or more outdated plugins or themes in your account that will need to be updated or corrected before attempting to upgrade to PHP 8.  In some cases this may be a plugin that is no longer supported, meaning it will never be compatible with newer versions of PHP. Such plugins or themes will need to be deactivated and removed before upgrading to PHP 8.

Note, customers who are on one of our maintenance packages will not need to worry about any of this as we will update your web site and PHP versions for you.

Please feel free to open a support ticket if you have any questions regarding your upgrade to PHP 8.
